Skin Tags Removal In Singapore | How To Get Rid Of Them!

WHAT ARE SKIN TAGS?

Skin tags are flaps of tissue that hangs off the skin by a connecting stalk. Skin tags are usually benign and are very common. They can appear on the neck, chest, back, underarms, under the breasts, or in the groin. They frequently happen in creases or folds of the skin. Often people wonder about skin-tags removal and the price tag to get it done. Skin tags removal is simple, though they may go unnoticed unless they are in a visually conspicuous place or are repeatedly rubbed or scratched by clothing, jewellery, or when shaving.

Some people might have skin tags and never notice them. Sometimes, they rub off or fall off painlessly However, it can be unsightly and disturbing for some people who have skin tags that are exposed when one is fully-clothed. Skin-tags removal at Dr Cindy’s Medical Aesthetics is simple and painless.

Are Skin Tags Harmful?

Most skin tags are benign, noncancerous tumours of the skin. They consist of a core of ducts and fibres, nerve cells, fat cells, and a covering or epidermis. The surface of skin tags may be irregular or smooth in look. They usually form on the surface area of the skin on fleshy peduncles, or stalks. They are flesh-coloured or somewhat brownish. Skin tags start little and initially may look flattened like a pinhead bump. Some bumps remain little, but some get bigger over time. They can vary in size from 2 millimetres(mm) to 1 centimetre (cm), and some may reach 5cm.

WHAT ARE THE CAUSES OF SKIN TAGS

It is not clear precisely what triggers skin tags, but it might occur when clusters of collagen and capillary end up caught inside thicker layers of the epidermis. They are common in skin creases or folds, brought on by skin friction.

WHO GETS SKIN TAGS?

Skin tags occur in both male and females, especially with weight gain, and with advancing age. It typically starts to occur after age 35. In individuals where skin tags appear before age 35, it is most likely due to an inherited increased vulnerability to skin tags. Skin tags also tend to occur in women throughout pregnancy, possibly due to hormone modification. Skin tags are also more commonly seen on overweight people. Diabetic patients also tend to have skin tags growth as they are related to hyperinsulinemia when there is too much insulin circulating in the blood. #skin-tags-and-how-to-rid-them

WHAT CAN HAPPEN TO SKIN TAGS

Skin tags generally do not cause any pain. However, they can become inflamed and painful if you picked at it or when there is constant rubbing against the folds of skin. Some people try to get rid of them with improper treatments like using a tweezer which can lead to infections. The sticky feeling we get in the hot and humid weather in Singapore also tends to make this skin condition less bearable. Skin-tags removal is readily available at Dr Cindy’s medical aesthetics

WHAT CAN BE DONE?

Most of the time, typical skin flaws like skin tags or skin cysts are nothing more sinister than just being unpleasant visually, but periodically there can be more to them. It is a better option to get a doctor to take a look at it. Skin tags are generally safe; doctors can eliminate them for cosmetic reasons. #skin-tags-and-how-to-rid-them

Large skin tags, particularly in areas where they may rub versus something, such as jewellery, clothing or skin, might be gotten rid of due to irritation. Eliminating a big skin tag from the face or under the arms can make shaving easier.

Folk remedies of skin tags include tying oral floss or thin cotton thread around the base of the skin tissue to cut off the blood flow. However as mentioned above, it may lead to inflammation and infection. Non-prescription options such as Over The Counter (OTC) solutions are also available at pharmacies, but it takes a longer time and may not give any results. Skin-tags removal by laser is a better option.

Recommended Methods of Skin Tag Removal include:

Lasers, Excision, and Cryotherapy

Clinics perform the following procedures.

  1. Lasers: Utilizing precise laser energy to burn off the skin tag. This method is effective and safe.
  2. Cryosurgery: The skin tag is frozen utilizing a probe containing liquid nitrogen
  3. Excision: Using a surgical scalpel to cut off the skin tag.

Only medical practitioners should do these procedures.

It can be tempting to attempt to pull or nip off a skin tag, but it is a risk of bleeding and possible infection. It can also leave permanent scars if the area had been traumatized with improper treatments.

At Dr Cindy’s, we start by numbing the location, after which the Doctors laser the skin tags off. This technique of using a surgical laser is fast, safe and clean, with fast recovery within a few days.

Only in some rare cases or with more massive skin tags that a patient needs repeat treatment. No evidence removing skin tags causes more of them to grow.
