WAYS TO REDUCE WRINKLES

Despite wrinkles being part and parcel of the natural ageing process, everyone on the planet tries finds ways to reduce wrinkles. In fact, most people have no boundaries when it comes to freeing themselves from wrinkles. Fortunately, reducing wrinkles no longer has to cost you an arm and a leg. Dr Cindy’s Medical Aesthetics has highlighted some easy ways to reduce wrinkles.

Try staying out of the sun

UV rays present in the sunlight penetrates the skin, causing a breakdown of collagen, which is important for the elasticity of the skin. But if it is unavoidable for you to do so, use sunscreen daily to protect your skin from the direct sun.

Use retinol-based creams

Over time, retinol has been proven to be the secret ingredient when it comes to youthful and glowing skin. It is responsible for the increase of cell turnover, reduces discolouration on the skin, and reduces the size of pores. The right time to start using retinol cream is immediately you start seeing signs of ageing.

Regular exfoliating

Exfoliation aids in the removal of the dead cell on the skin’s top layer, giving way to fresher cells taking their place. This important procedure aids in cell turnover, which is vital to your skin.

Avoid or reduce sugar intake

Premature ageing and wrinkly skin have been linked to heavy sugar intake. What sugar does is that it causes the degrading of collagen which is responsible for the youthful look, thus causing premature ageing. Although it is difficult to do without sugar completely, it is advisable to reduce its intake gradually.

Increasing your vitamin c levels

Science has shown that vitamin c is essential for the creation and repairing of collagen. The best sources of vitamin c are fruits and vegetables. Therefore if you are after a smooth looking face, eat more foods rich in vitamin c or use vitamin c supplements.

Stop smoking

Smoking does no justice to your health in general. In addition to breaking down the skin’s collagen, smoking causes lung cancer and has deadly side effects.

Smokers tend to have the worst wrinkles as compared to those who don’t smoke. Therefore, do not smoke if you have not.
